How to compound 7 commonly used topical drugs

1. Iodine tincture: Take 1.5 to 2.5 grams of potassium iodide in a small bowl, pour little cold boiled water in the bowl, mix until dissolved, drop 2 to 5 grams of iodine tablet in the bowl, mix until dissolved, pour 100 ml of 70% to 75% concentration of alcohol in the bowl, mix until even, done.


2. Iodinated glycerol: Pour 2 grams of potassium iodide in a small bowl, pour little cold boiled water in the bowl, mix until dissolved, drop 2 to 3 grams of iodine tablet in the bowl, mix until dissolved, pour 100 ml of glycerin in the bowl, mix until even, done. Mainly used for stomatitis, pharyngitis or shallow skin ulcers treatment.


3. Iodoform sulfanilamide powder: Mix with 9 doses of iodoform and 1 dose of sulfanilamide, until even, done. Used for the treatment of fresh wound infection.


4. Iodoform boric acid powder: Mix with 9 doses of iodoform and 1 dose of boric acid, until even, done. Used for the trauma and ulcer treatment.


5. Iodoform glycerin: Pour 15 grams of iodoform and 70 ml of glycerin in 120 ml of distilled water, mix until dissolved, done. Used for the treatment of suppurative wound.


6. Gentian violet: Common concentrations are 0.5%, 1% or 2%. Take 2% as an example, take 2 grams of gentian violet in a small bowl, pour little alcohol in the bowl, mix until dissolved, pour 100 ml distilled water in the bowl, mix until even, done.


7. Ichthammol ointment: Mix 10 to 30 grams of ichthammol and 70 to 90 grams of Vaseline (total weight of 100 grams), until even, done. Used for the treatment of tendonitis, mastitis, cellulitis, ulcers, frostbite, immature infection, and abscess.
